So tonight I was hanging some clothes in my closet when my 5 year old niece, Ryleigh, came into my room and asked if she could wear one of my dresses. I complied and gave her a sun dress. As she finished putting it on and looked at herself joyfully in my mirror. This is what she said:
Ryleigh: "Nani, I am a princess!"
Angela: "Yes you are!"
Ryleigh: "You know why?"
Angela: "Why?"
Ryleigh: "Because my daddy said so:)"

WOW! Can you imagine if we, the women of this world, took what our heavenly father says at true face value.

HE TELLS US THAT WE ARE VALUABLE! HE TELLS US THAT WE ARE WORTH IT! HE TELLS US THAT WE CAN CHANGE OUR WORLD! HE TELLS US THAT WE CARRY HOPE!

So, there is my life lesson for today! What a wonderful one it is!

Missing filthy flies

So the other day I was at my job at Sno's just taking a break outside under the little tin shed. The shed is close to our HUGE dumpster so there were flies EVERYWHERE! I started to think, 'Wow this is sorta cool that I don't mind these aggravating flies.'
It then started to make me miss the filth and nastiness of India, Africa, and anywhere else where the filth is. You see that is now what flies remind me of...they remind me of desperate people and God's love. I believe that is where God's love is the most....in the filth of His people. He is a God of love!
Now when you see a fly please say a prayer for the people that God LOVES so so much! He loves us in our filth! let us never forget that!

I have a job this summer at a gym...and it is fun! But I miss Winbourne way more than I honestly ever thought I would. I miss ministry as a whole! but there is something about touching peoples live everyday that I can never get enough of. To make things more interesting, every morning on my way to work I have been passing a newly developed neighboorhood AND you will never guess the name of the entrance street to this neighborhood....... I KNOW! I love and hate passing this sign now because I really would rather be sweating like crazy with some of my HPCers! Here is just a little look of the fun we would have working in the warehouse on Thursdays!

Through the decades there has always been something that has made people "feel" cool. Now, it being 2008 there are many things that make people "feel" cool. One would be big, oversized, gaudy sunglasses!

Needless to say mine were a hit last night as they were passed around the table at Bennigan's. My awesome Italian buddy Daniel Edwards got the award for "Who Looked the Best in Anj's Glasses Contest".

This past Friday Katie Fontenot decided that we were going to see a movie. It ended up that Lydia tagged along also. ON TOP OF THAT, Brandon and Blake decided they were going to the same movie theatre but were going to see a different movie. We then decided that we all would meet up after and go eat!

WELL, our movie ended sooner than the boys. As we were standing in the lobby waiting for them out of the corner of my eye I see what I think is Brandon, BUT it definitely isn't! I told Katie to look and she flipped it was SO creepy! Take a look and let me know if you agree. I think its Donny Osmond aka Brandon Bourgeois without a beard! CREEPY!!! (It's the guy in the back seat!)

So this might be a long post , but this one is surely worth it! This awesome missionary named Jack dyer has been such an influential part in a lot of young lives! I decided to do the nosey thing and "google" him to read about his history! I have found this amazing article from Charisma Magazine. Here are some bits and pieces:

Veteran Missionary Pilot Won't Let Age or Injury Ground Him
Jack Dyer has spent 26 years delivering food and medical supplies to remote regions in Honduras and India
The man known as "Papa Jack" to thousands of Miskito Indians has taken a break from his adventures after a nasty fall on a mountain trek. But just because he's 73 years old doesn't mean Church of God missionary Jack Dyer is considering retirement.

"I'm a perpetual motion machine," he told Charisma. "If I stop moving I'll die."

Dyer has been recuperating following that nearly fatal fall in the Himalayas in India last year. But that was just one of countless close calls he's had in his 26-year missionary career, most of it spent among the Miskito Indians of Honduras, where he used his plane to ferry medical supplies and people to remote clinics, among many other duties.

Dyer grew up in Baton Rouge, La., and became a successful engineer before experiencing the "anointing of the Holy Spirit," as he put it. He was a deacon and Sunday school teacher in a Baptist church but felt something working on him spiritually. "The Holy Spirit was touching me," Dyer said.

The turning point came when he heard a sermon on Revelation 18. "It tells them to get out of Babylon," he said. "God spoke to me just as clearly as I'm talking to you and said: 'That's you, Buddy. You're mine, but you live in Babylon.' And He said, 'Get out.'"

Dyer describes his experiences in his unpublished memoirs, which he wrote in third person. "I don't like people blowing their own horn, so I just didn't put my name in the book," he explained. "I just think it's more interesting that way."

In the book, he writes of his arrival at a refugee camp in Mocoron, Honduras, in 1981: "He soon realized he was in a situation like he had never seen before. There were some 11,000 people living in an open field. There was no clean drinking water, no sanitary facilities, almost no food and nothing but the crudest thatched roofed sheds to protect them from the torrential rains that fell intermittently. They were living in a sea of mud mixed with human excrement. The odor was almost more than his stomach could bear. For a moment he thought he would throw up."

But Dyer said he adjusted to the living conditions and was soon busy helping, sometimes transporting too-heavy loads to save lives or landing on dangerous terrain.

His adventures didn't end with the refugee crisis. The day-to-day routine of a jungle bush pilot keeps Dyer living on the edge. On more than one occasion he damaged his plane and nearly lost his life landing on remote jungle strips. But he said he felt that he was in God's hands, which enabled him to perform feats far beyond the limits of his own skills.

One such feat occurred when he decided to land on a sandbar in the Coco River. He scouted it out by air but saw it was covered with logs, so he sent an Indian friend upriver by canoe to clear it. Then he flew up to deliver Christmas boxes to the Miskitos. Dyer finessed the risky landing and handed out the boxes to grateful Indians.

Dyer was in his late 60s when he wrapped up his work in Honduras. But rather than retire to Baton Rouge to fish and dandle grandkids like an ordinary person, he set off to India for a new chapter in his missionary career. That led him on the trek that almost ended his life: He blacked out while hiking in the Himalayas and wound up at the bottom of a mountain. Doctors said a heart condition apparently caused the blackout.

Dyer returned "home" to Baton Rouge for medical treatment last year, but he made a month long trip to Honduras in November and planned another to India early this year. "I'm open to what God does with me," he said. "I just want to be used."

Friday for us outreach interns usually includes helping clean up after the ladies support group at the Dream Center. Well, this past Friday we met an amazing family who have had some rough times. The family included the grandmother, the mother and 7 BEAUTIFUL children.

We took them to go get showered and take them to the shelter. I got the pleasure of having 3 of the kids ride with me. They told me that we were saving them and they were really happy about their mommy getting to start over. It was definitely one of those days where I realized how God's grace is so detailed in our lives. His grace covers me when I worry about getting gas money and His grace also covers Natalie, Clarence, Precious, and Princess when they aren't sure where they are going to sleep at night. OUR GOD COVERS....plain and simple!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As I read this I think about my STUNNING people in Nkobe, Mozambique! I think about how God has placed such a light around Isaac and Carol.I think about them waking up (every single day) and allowing God's light to drench them so that the beautiful people of Nkobe can know our Jesus!!!

This passage is also such an encouragement for me to always know that it is time to wake up to the injustice of this world and to allow God to prepare us for His work.....JUSTICE AND FREEDOM!!!!!!

Okay this MACKIN' apartment is soon...very soon actually (tomorrow) going to belong to the boys of ELEVATE 07-08! Although, I am living at home, I am extremely jealous!!!! Not only is this a "penthouse" apartment but it also has a balcony that overlooks the pool and goes around the ENTIRE apartment!!!!

In a way the guys especially 2nd year guys totally deserve this because last year their apartment was totally ghetto!!!! No lie!!!! So, CONGRATS Brandon on your fine apartment...because you are really the only one who deserves this 5-star treatment!!!!

I dug this old picture up today...It all started when I strolled into Starbucks to get my usual white tea with a shot of classic syrup...:) I looked up to place my order and I saw a familiar face...its the girl with me in this pic...her name is Annelie...and for those of you who do not know her...SHE IS AMAZINGLY FUNNY! Annelie and I met when I was about 17 through some friends at a throwed-off summer camp! We have not really kept in touch over the years BUT because of the fact that she works at the most addictive store in the USA we use this time to catch up. As we were "catching up" on each others life she said, "Anj, you look happy!" I said thank you grabbed my tea, told her bye, and strolled out.

Now, remember that this conversation was about 4 days ago. But this morning when I woke up I remembered her comment. It's now about time for Refuge and it hasn't stopped bugging me all day. I mean, what makes a person look happy?

So, here is what God has shown me. In Psalm 30:11-12 it says, "You did it: you changed wild lament into whirling dance; You ripped off my black mourning band and decked me with wildflowers. I'm about to burst with song; I can't keep quiet about you. God, my God, I can't thank you enough." See God has taken everything that He did not want in my life and is able to produce fruit! God longs to literally and tangibly use people and work through them. I believe that He used Annelie and some AMAZING white tea to remind me that the joy within me is only there because of what HE did for me!!!!

So, Africa was absolutely STUNNING!I CANNOT WAIT TO GO BACK!!!!
Here is a picture of the 3 most opposite people you will probably ever meet. And I truly do not think that either of these fabulous women would disagree. This is at graduation and it was awesome! but not as awesome as Africa. The one thing that was on my mind the entire graduation was,"Why are we being honored when the last 9 months of my life have been so blessed?" What I am really trying to get at is being able to be a part of a "Kingdom Impact" is probably the most honoring thing anyone could ever be a part of!!!!!!!!

My motto this year throughout elevate was: NO MATTER THE DIRECTION, LED BY HIS WORTHINESS!!!! This motto has so much weight now that I have completed the first year of truly being led by HIS WORTHINESS!!!!!!!

Thank you everyone who put up with the crazy and sold out interns of '07!!! It definitely would not have been the same with out you guys!!!!! Thank you my family!!!!!

We, Full Time Elevate, are leaving for Africa in 9 days!...This morning I was looking at my friend Ty's blog and found this picture in one of his albums...It really hit home. I haven't been to Africa and I have never met a child from there, but looking at these pictures, reading blogs of those who have been or may live there, and crying out for nations connects me to these children in such deep and compassionate ways. I cannot imagine being able to show these children the love of Jesus without Him vibrant in my heart, but as we, Elevate, cry out for Africa as a family I know that His love will be shown quite well. Africa we are coming to show that Jesus is here and anything can happen!

Hey everyone...so this morning I looked up the word integrity and here is what I found:
results for: integrity
1.
adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty.
2.
the state of being whole, entire, or undiminished: to preserve the integrity of the empire.
3.
a sound, unimpaired, or perfect condition: the integrity of a ship's hull.

Why is integrity so important? Because in every definition it describes something that is formed with out flaw. Honesty, for example, is without flaw because when you are held up to your words there will be no imperfections. In the 2nd definition it says whole and undiminished...Integrity has only two options trust or dis-trust AKA whole/undiminished OR broken/scarred.
Integrity is something that is not only gained but it also must be maintained. It is something that takes daily respect and effort with pure motives BEFORE GOD.

Psalm 26:11 (Amplified Bible)
11But as for me, I will walk in my integrity; redeem me and be merciful and gracious to me.
